Dear Friends                                                                                                                                                June 2011

Unfortunately due to various reasons we will not be holding a Strawberry Tea this year.   We hope to do so next year.

Our next event is Jazz at The Manor on Saturday 23 July, 3 p.m. – 7 p.m.   This will be held in Borden Hall courtesy of Chee and Robert Hardy.    There will be a traditional New Orleans Jazz Band – Burt Butler’s Jazz Pilgrims.   And,   there will also be a Steel Band - YMS.   Tickets are £15 (as in the last two years) and are available from Zoë Drury on 01795 554327,  David Harrison on 01795 479727, or on-line at via PayPal.  Please bring a picnic and seating.     Pimms will be on sale.

The Race Night/Fish and Chip Supper was very well attended and raised £600 for the funds.   We are once more indebted to David Harrison for all his hard work and for engendering so much fun into the evening.

We were delighted that our Patron, Fr Michael Anderson was able to attend our AGM in March.   At the meeting Paul Aspin stood down as Chairman, after three very successful years.   Many thanks are due to Paul for all his endeavours and his flashes of inspiration during this time.   £7,620 was raised during 2010. The Friends (including you via your subscriptions) had donated £10,000 towards the restoration of the Church organ.   David Harrison agreed to take the Chair for one year, while the two Vice Chairs, Zoë Drury, Vice Chair last year and Stuart Kemsley appointed this year, learn the ropes!   Shirley Henderson is Treasurer for the third and final year.   There were no nominations for Secretary.   Peter Wright, who has moved to Folkestone, resigned from the committee and Loraine Sabourin and Stuart Kemsley (both co-opted during the year) were elected as committee members.

The 1st Quarterly Draw Prize Winners of 2011 were:
